Hey again,
Today was a relatively boring day, I didn't do much at all, except for walk my chihuahua Gucci of course ;)
I went to my friend's house tonight and we started talking about my book, when all of a sudden, she told me that she published 2 books of her own! Let me tell you, this girl is very very talented, so I wasn't THAT surprised, but seeing the books in her house made me realize that I'm not the only writing freak around, hehe.
I really enjoyed our conversation tonight; we spoke about the publishing process and our experience as authors. We spoke about the Penguin recruitment event as well and both of us had very different views about the company and publishing in general.
Seeing her published books makes me even more determined to get mine out there, but it's just so hard. Someone has to literally fall in love with your book, and only then does it have a chance of getting published.
Like I told all of you before, it's all about determination; you gotta know what you want and that it is achievable!
Wishing you all a good night!

Hey again
Hey everyone,
Talk about gross weather! I was told it was going to be 50 degrees today and I was so looking forward to having a nice day during winter. But when I woke up this morning, I realized how gross it was outside. It's not cold but just so bleak and dreary; I just wanted to stay in bed all day and sleep.
You know what can be done in this weather? You guessed it... reading!!! At least, that's what I've been doing. I read other books, stories which I thought I would have no interest in and surprisingly I do, just so that I can have broader ideas fo how to improve my own writing, that's what being a good author is all about.
Stay dry,
Rachel <3

Good Evening, all!
Good Evening Everyone!
A couple of days ago, I went to Penguin Publishing House for their recruitment program and let me tell you, I learned a lot! They explained the different depts involved in the publishing process, and gave us the history of their company as well. I was there with another 30-40 students who all have the same dream as me. As the presentation went on, I'm sure all of them thought the same thing as me: "Man, do I wish this prestigious company will hire me!"
After that day. Luckily, for me I had not only my resume, but my cover letter, picture of my book and two recommendation letters (one from Folio where I interned in the summer and another from Professor Carey Harrison, who's dad was Rex Harrison, the main character in the film "My Fair Lady). It ALWAYS pays to be overprepared rather than underprepared. Though I gave my papers to the person whow as in charge of human resources, I still emailed everything again. It seems to me that this kind of thing is a raffle in some way; the more times you apply, the bigger chances you have.
Well, that was that, and we were told we will receive an answer in the next month. I am nervouse, I want to work for them VERY much, but what's menat to be is what's meant to be. I just gotta be hopeful, so wish me luck!! : )

Happy Belated New Year!
Happy Belated New Year Everyone!
I know I'm about 2 weeks late but better late than never huh?
So, as for me, I've been very busy lately. I'm interested in the publishing world, so for the past couple of weeks, I've been emailing my resume like mad to every publishing company I could possibly think of. Let me tell you, this is no easy task; you need LOTS of patience. In addition, I went to the city numerous times to drop off my resume, but this is even harder to do, and I'll tell you why:
Firstly, you need an appointment to get in, and if you don't, then you can't go in.
The more famous the company, the less likely you have a chance of getting in.
Second, if you do get in, god knows if you'll ever hear back from the company and if you do it's most likely a rejection letter : (
It's an amazing career, but you gotta be lucky. Someone has to be super impressed with you, or else you basically have no chance. But I'm persistent nevertheless. I know what I want, and hopefully I'll get it.
Anyway, that's it for now. Have a good night everyone!
